I Might Just Be A Self-Righteous, Judgmental Asshole.

I will be the first to admit that I am flawed, perhaps deeply, and I’ve done things that I regret. Maybe I have no right to judge anyone, but this one person really offends me. Am I a judgmental, self-righteous asshole? Read on, and decide for yourself:

When I first met “QW” at a Cacao ceremony/yoga retreat, I noticed that he had an ankle bracelet. I didn’t know the back story so I was civil towards him as he talked to my wife and me about his dreams about running a dog sanctuary. I admired that, and wished him luck.

A few months later, the young lady who runs the Cacao ceremonies with her partner, offered the opportunity to visit a remote island in Greece. The days would be filled with touring the island and staying at a hostel.

My wife dearly wanted to take this trip. But since I work at my state’s Department of Corrections, and because “QW” had an ankle bracelet, I needed to look him up. Anytime that I might associate with someone who had been a “guest” at our department, I am required to fill out a fraternization form.

I discovered, through websites available to the public, that “QW” had sexually assaulted a fourteen year-old girl back in 2015. He spent almost 9 years on supervision — some of that in prison.
